Mothers I'd Like to (I think you can figure out the last word)

I think it reached the popular culture through the movie American Pie ... now its a huge category of internet p*rn (so I've been told) ... and I read somewhere that Britney Spears was seen in a t-shirt which said, "MILF In-Training"

I wonder if the Moro Islamic Liberation Front knows this?

A news headline today:

Govt, MILF exchange blame after clashes

Is that a letter to you from jazzshrink?

:g

here is the "late" maryalice:

I don't watch Desperate Housewives but this actress has also played the deceased wife of the Treat Williams character in the WB series Everwood. Quite the career she has for herslf.

It's Sue-Ellen Miskie, the Oh Henry bar heiress!

After watching the first episode it was driving me nuts trying to figure out where I had seen her. Then I remembered the Seinfeld episode where Ellaine's friend (or enemy) wears the bra as a top.

I watched the 1st 2 eps of Desperate Housewives and then kinda forgot to watch. Same thing happened with Lost. I might try again, if I can remember.

Owens Apologizes for Role in 'MNF' Skit

PHILADELPHIA - Terrell Owens apologized Thursday to anyone offended by his role in a steamy segment with actress Nicollette Sheridan for the intro to "Monday Night Football."

"I felt like it was clean, the organization felt like it was a clean skit and I think it just really got taken out of context with a lot of people and I apologize for that," Owens said. "Personally I didn't think it would have offended anyone and, if it did, I apologize."

ABC and the Eagles also apologized this week, with the team saying they wished the segment "hadn't aired."

The opening, which has generated complaints to ABC and the Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites), showed Sheridan wearing only a towel and provocatively asking Owens to skip the game for her as the two stood alone in a locker room. She drops the towel and jumps into Owens' arms.

Owens had no idea the intro would create such a backlash.

"I thought it was a fun skit and that was it," Owens said.

Owens, a flashy player known for his outrageous touchdown celebrations, seemed to believe the skit was generating controversy because of his participation, not because of simulated nudity.

"Anything I get involved with, I'm obviously a target," he said. "It happened."

Reaction has ranged from amusement to anger. Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy found it racially offensive; Owens is black and Sheridan is white.

Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb wasn't quite as vocal, saying he didn't find the segment offensive and believed people were overreacting. Michael Powell, chairman of the FCC (news - web sites), questioned ABC's judgment in airing the scene.

When asked if he was shocked the story was making the front page of newspapers around the country, Owens quipped, "I always make the front page."

FCC Reviews 'Desperate Housewives' Football Promo

Wed Nov 17, 9:22 PM ET Entertainment - Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) on Wednesday reviewed complaints about ABC's steamy "Desperate Housewives" promotion before "Monday Night Football" and while the agency's chairman expressed disappointment, it was not clear whether government would tackle the network.

Although the FCC (news - web sites) plans to fine 20 CBS affiliates for its live telecast of the Super Bowl halftime show this year in which Janet Jackson (news) bared her breast, agency chief Michael Powell was measured in his comments about the seductive prime-time "Desperate Housewives" promo.

"First of all, as a legal matter, whether it's a problem is yet to be determined. We only respond to complaints and evaluate them fairly and make a decision," Powell said in an interview with CNBC.

"But I think it's very disappointing. I wonder if Walt Disney would be proud," Powell added.

ABC, a unit of Walt Disney Co., apologized on Tuesday for running the spot for its red hot drama about hanky panky in suburbia as an introduction to its premier football game watched weekly by millions.

The FCC has been cracking down on broadcast radio and television stations for explicit sexual discussions and other incidents that are aired when children are likely to be watching or listening.

The network acknowledged receiving numerous viewer complaints for the segment that featured "Housewives" star Nicolette Sheridan making a very forward pass at Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens in a locker room.

In a parody of her show, Sheridan appears wrapped in a towel and beckons the player to skip his game for her. Although no nudity is shown, it is implied when Sheridan drops the towel to the floor and jumps into Owens's arms.

ABC said placement of the promo was inappropriate and the NFL also criticized the piece as unsuitable for its audience.

Unless you're sitting down with your kids to watch the game at 7:30 CST and get caught unaware by something more suitable for after the 10:00 news. Sure it was funny, but is it really necessary for kids to see it? Not like there ws any advance warning or anything. If ABC wants to go WWF (or whatever they're called now...) so be it. But geez, there's gotsta be something better.

Propriety, not content, is the issue afaic. Lots of families would rather thier youn-ish kids not see something like that, and what's wrong with that?

Exactly. Which is why, while I personally wasn't offended by the whole Janet Jackson fiasco, I could understand the ire of some parents who weren't expecting to see some tittie.

At the same time, from what I've seen of this MNF skit, while perhaps misguided in hindsite, it seems pretty darn tame. I mean, I've seen more skin in shampoo commercials. Some people seem to go out of their way to be offended.

i agree with jazzmoose.

some people need to get a life.

one amusing aspect that seems to be lost in all of this is that t.o. is often criticized for not being a team player, and 1 of the points of this skit is t.o. ditching his team for nicollete sheridan.

the whole skit was hilarious.

as far as it being aired at 6 pm on the west coast - has anyone seen the commercials that run during most football games?

I like that shampoo commercial where the woman orgasms. think it's funny, but is that really "family-hour" (and whose FCC got rid of that, anyway) material?

Again, a reality check, please. There's plenty of "wingnuts" out there more than willing to take it a LOT further than it needs to be took if some common sense don't take hold.

OK, I've avoided any potential spoilers by coming straight to the end of this thread, but I did read the first few posts when they were originally written. I was intrigued by the comments then.

Anyhow, the show aired tonight in the UK.

Obviously, most males will be instantly captivated by the aesthetic charms of this show. Looks like good, easy fun. Something I can switch off to mid-week.

Interestingly, I missed a doc on BBC4 called Cobra-Ferrari Wars, which is about Carol Shelby's efforts in creating race winning motors in order to watch the show (I did check that there is a repeat later in the week though ^_^ ).

turn the sound down and enjoy!

While I won't disagree that the ladies are pleasing to the eye, I would very strongly disagree that the show is pure eye candy. Don't turn the sound down as this is one of the wittier and better written shows on TV, despite its superficially soapish themes.

I agree! I haven't watched it religiously, but have caught a few shows, and the writing is MUCH better than you would expect, and the eye candy to boot? I should watch it more often, perhaps when the dvd comes out.....
