  1. I am interested in the Woody Herman and/or the Ventura/Phillips. Thanks, Bob
  2. not true. there is no episode next week due to the memorial day holiday. the next episode will be in 2 weeks.
  3. there is an out of print cd, "carnegie hall concert," on ebay right now. i think someone should pay as much as it takes to get this wonderful cd.
  4. i really enjoy alvin batiste. when i graduated from college my wife surprised me with a trip to new orleans. alvin batiste's columbia album had just been released and he was playing snug harbor while we were there. my wife does not drink, and she is not into jazz, but that night she had a hurricane and indulged me by going to the show. she was sound asleep within one song. we still joke about it.
  5. slaughterhouse five is the most humane novel i have ever read. there are no villans in that book - just victims of circumstance. r.i.p old buddy.
  6. good luck to everyone. we had blood tests done on both of our dogs last monday. they both came out okay. we fed both of them iams, nutro, and eukanuba at various times over the last 3 months. it will be dry only from now on.
  7. how is this possible - the panthers and the jaguars entered the league at the same time.
  8. guy, if you don't mind my asking - what company will you be working for? also, a friend of mine lived in charlotte from 1995 - 2001. if you have not been there recently - you have not seen charlotte. they are building a new city down there.
  9. i was not familiar with this title, and a local record store was nice enough to give me a copy of the rvg (that should tell you how much i spent there last year), and i must say this is a fantastic record. well worth picking up for those like me who knew nothing about it.
  10. anyone who's interested can buy the hutch on ebay - it's up to $70 with 14 bids. what's up with that?
  11. i have to give kudos to concord. i sent an email yesterday - very humble and appreciative - and they are overnighting me a complete new "fearless leader" box. this is much more than i could've hope for or expected. i would have been happy with 2 discs sent snail mail. needless to say, i sent a very thankful email in return. concord can count me as a customer (as long as they continue to put out good titles )
  12. mike this sounds like great advice. thanks for the input.
  13. i might have to agree. they are promo sets, but now i have a dilemna. my "major award" (allusion to "a christmas story") arrived today, and 2 of the "fearless leader" cd's are in such bad shape they will not play all the way through. do i send an email and look ungrateful, or do i just accept it as is?
  14. i have not received my prizes yet, but i emailed concord a few days ago, and they said there were 80 winners and they were in the process of shipping it all out. i should have mine early this week. a black line through the barcode typically indicates a promo - not for sale copy.
  15. if you can afford it - i would hang on to it. if it's a matter of money, alot of it can sound a bit "samey" after awhile.
  16. that is so weird - that is what i am drinking (not on sunday morning of course). well that and the elliot ness.
  17. what is the general opinion of proper boxes? i know some people have objections considering that they reissue stuff that is out of copyright. half price books have started selling these sets, and it is very tempting.
  18. thanks - i'm excited all out of proportion to the actual value.
  19. i entered the "concord cool coltrane sweepstakes" while i was purchasing all of my cd's during the summer sale, and now i'm a winner! i won a "fearless leader box," "1957 monk/coltrane" 2 cd set, a t shirt, and some commemorative stamps. yippee! anyone else here win anything?
  20. ellington coltrane monk van morrison bob dylan
  21. i will never understand why they will not let mosaic reissue more of their material.
  22. back in '78 or '79 i won a smokey robinson lp on the local top 40 station. i think it was "where there's smoke . . . ." i did not have a turntable at the time, so it was useless to me. when it arrived i colored over the gold promo stamp with a purple marker (the same color as the ablum cover), and i exchanged it at gold circle (a local retailer at the time) for an 8 track (probably some middle america hard rock act). when the woman at the counter asked me about the purple coloring i pleaded ignorance.
