Guest ariceffron Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 SOUNDS KIND OF WIERD. SQUIRE, WHITE, AND TONY KAYE ON ORGAN AND WINWOOD ON SYNTH. WHAT IN THE FUCKING ASS HELL IS THAT ABOUT. SO I GUESS WHITE PLAYED WITH KAYE BEFORE THE 80S AFTERALL Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 WHAT IF THEY PLAYED A CONCERT WITH EDDIE. THAT WOULD JUST BE WAY OUT OF CONTROL Quote
JSngry Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 squire and white as backup for eddie harris??? At first glance, I read "squire" as "square". And didn't bat an eye. Quote
mikeweil Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Remember I gave it a listen in a shop when it was first released, and thought it was the dullest Eddie Harris album I had ever heard. Didn't give it another try. I dunno ... the grooves were too weak. Quote
jazzbo Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 It's got some really good Eddie on it. . .imo. Quote
mikeweil Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 (edited) Square and white, right? Judging from your (avatar) background, Jim - square and white - I guess you know what you're talking about ...... Edited November 17, 2004 by mikeweil Quote

Guest ariceffron Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 part of the problem i hear is its just loose jamming. if eddie commisioned howe and squire to write a song for them it would be a whole nother story Quote

They probably got together in the studio unprepared and did just that - jam. Quote
JSngry Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this Eddie thing a sort of "jazz response" to things like the Chess HOWLING WOLF U.K. SESSIONS, etc.? Quote

In retrospect, an unsucessful attempt at reconquering the market they had lost to the British invasion? Quote
