Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 http://www.attictoys.com/jazz/EH.HTM This page lists March 8 and May 9 as the rec. dates. This 2nd one correct, or is it possibly a typo that should read March 9? Quote
BFrank Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 How is that album? They just added it to eMusic, and I was thinking of downloading it. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 Downloaded it about an hour ago and have now listened to the first 6 tracks on disc 2. It's very nice music......'Toothsome Threesome' is an excellent bluesy number. Philly Joe seems to get a pretty good workout on some of these tracks. Sound is a bit on the 'brite' side but that's probably due to the fact that I'm listening through the PC rather than the main system. Quote
JSngry Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 How is that album? They just added it to eMusic, and I was thinking of downloading it. Pretty damn good. Piano's a bit funky, nut Hope's playing is wide open, sounding not at all unlike he's a step or five away from crossing over into early Ceciltaylorland. If I exaggerate, and perhaps I do, it ain't by much. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Are these the session that came out on Inner City as Vol. 1 and Vol. 2? Quote
Ted O'Reilly Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Are these the session that came out on Inner City as Vol. 1 and Vol. 2? Yes, these are the same items... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 The cds add a couple of alternates and restore edits on 5 tracks. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I gotta listen to those again. It's been years... Quote
jazzbo Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Great stuff! I have the two Fantasy cds and need to blow the dust off them and spin them again soon! Quote
Brandon Burke Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I remember Philly Joe being on those but not Clifford Jarvis. I'm definitely gonna rock those when I get home tonight. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Say, can somebody please check the dates that those Inner City LPs were issued. I'm sending a correction to AMG. thanks, -- Brandon Quote
Spontooneous Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 If I have both the Fantasy CDs (and I do), am I gaining anything by buying the Evidence reissue? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 The Evidence discs are clones of the Specialty (Fantasy) discs. Not a thing to gain. Quote
Spontooneous Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Good to know. I was afraid I was missing something there. Thanks. Quote
