Dan Gould Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I'm afraid everyone's gonna go for "Blues March" Quote
Alexander Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I went for "Imperialism," although I'm surprised you didn't include a "Ok, if its the "Liberty Bell March" Used as The Monty Python Theme." Quote
Guest mary mcgoon Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Didn't vote because the right answer for me wasn't there. A lot of those marches are pretty clever little pieces of music, pretty inventive within the limitations of the form. There are some great melodies there. Sousa was also an excellent arranger and orchestrator. In small doses they can be pretty cool. I'm not going to let some dumb imperialists mess 'em up for me. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I agree with the distinguished McGoon. Quote
BruceH Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Another vote for Mary's viewpoint. I couldn't vote for any of these. Now if there was one that said, "Important composer who deserves his proper due," then I'd vote for THAT. Quote
