Ginger Baker

I got this friend, who talks and talks and never makes any sense. He's telling me that Ginger Baker got banned from the US. Any information on that?

I believe Baker was deported shortly after 9/11 as a result of tightened visa requirements. My recollection is foggy but I seem to recall he either left voluntarily or would not cooperate with US Immigration in taking the necessary steps that would have enabled him to stay.

Heard the album he did w/ Frisell and Haden, and at the time it didn't work for me. It felt he was a little too heavy handed on the drums, and didn't fit with what the others were doing.

everything i hear him on is VERY heavy handed-especiall the haden/frisell stuff.

yeah speaking of axiom i used to like this cheesy axiom album "material-live in japan" which had baker on it. also foday musa suso and laswell and who else? aiyb deng? they do a very cheesy version of the creator has a master plan. a lot of percussion jamming on that album and baker might have a really long solo. i do not like this album anymore.
