Kevin Bresnahan
Out on what label? I have a Japanese 24 bit remaster that sounds pretty good. Before that, I had it on a US CD on the Portrait label. That one sounded like crap... all tinny and harsh. Sounded like an early stab at CD making. The Brookmeyer is excellent too, much better than the usual all-star affair IMHO. The Mulligan looks good, but be warned it is pretty short (30" or so). How's the Jamal? mikeweil
How's the Jamal? ← Musically, it is excellent - I have the previous French 2 CD edition. But someone told me these were mastered from second generation tapes with reverb added, so I wonder about the sound of the new one. If you like the recent Argo reissue, this is a must! It was fascinating to hear the version of New Rumba on which Gil Evans based his Miles Ahead arrangement.
