Would this be a decent venue for organissimo. The owner expressed an interest but I was wondering if any one here has been there. We also got a little interest from Hot House. :)

Many Thanks,

Greg

Greg,

I've not been to the Underground but Hot House is a great venue! I'll be in Chicago next week; I ask about it. Sal may know!!!

You may try the Green Mill as well!

There was (still is??) a bar not far from Wrigley (across the street, if I remember), called The Cubby Bear. That's where I saw Sun Ra in about 1990, with about a 12-14 member version of the Arkestra in tow.

No idea if the bar is still there or not, but that might be a good venue to consider too.

HotHouse does better promotions. I've lived in Chicago for five years and never once heard about the shows at the Underground Lounge. HotHouse is a great venue, as Mark said.

But if you could play both that would all be good.

Green Mill would also be good venue, but they may feel they have enough organ trio music there already.

Shubas is another possibility where the groove could carry the crowd. Maybe the Vic for the frat crowd (don't know how much live music they book). Cubby Bear is definitely still around, but can't remember how much live music they book either.

Promotions can make a huge difference for sure. Shubas is on my list.

All of this could be answered with a few days in the city. If you want rewards from Chicago, spend some time there and see what you are dealing with.

By remote control you could be walking into a disaster.

That's actually what we're planning on doing... hopefully this week. I love me some Chi-town anywho and it would be a good excuse to drive there.

Wanna go?

Jim,

I'll be there from this Friday morning through Monday morning (Chicago Jazz Festival), as will Jazzshrink and Sal. If you think you can get into town, pm me and I'll give you my cell number.
