Quincy Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I remember that show! The "All Tomorrow's Parties" polka was pretty hot too. I think it was around the time Gil Evans did that Hendrix album. Larry wasn't about to be out-hipped, so he went straight to the Warhol crowd. Take that Gil! The later attempts at punk were disastrous though... Quote
JSngry Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Would've been better w/Rabbit on board. Quote
Big Al Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 So it WAS a Wurlitzer after all...... Quote

AllenLowe Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 well, few people know this (Lou Reed is my cousin, so he confides in me) but the original lines in Walk on the Wild Side were about the Lennon sisters giving head - Quote
dave9199 Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Did you guys see Moe Tucker in the back playing the snare & cymbal? Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 "Where are the bubbles?" you'll have to ask the sisters... Quote
RDK Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 I once heard a bootleg of "Lawrence Welk and Nico." And rumor has it that it was Myron Florin who was "waiting for his man." Quote
sal Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 (edited) well, few people know this (Lou Reed is my cousin, so he confides in me) but the original lines in Walk on the Wild Side were about the Lennon sisters giving head - ← That must be cool to have Lou Reed as a cousin! I think "Estacy" is some of his best work. Too bad it got so overlooked. Edited November 16, 2005 by sal Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 actually I've never spoken to Lou - but based on some recent info I've found, he's likely related to me on my mother's side - Quote
Ron S Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Allen, you sure it's not Lou Costello to whom you're related? Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 damn - I always confuse those two - but than, who wouldn't? Quote
Dave James Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Great clip. I've already confessed an affinity for the Champagne Man on the Welk/Hodges thread, but a video is even better. The truly scary part is that I know the names of most of the musicians. On the remote chance anyone is interested, Johnny Klein is on drums, Neil LaBang on banjo, Buddy Merrill on guitar and Bob Ralston on piano. God help me...turn off the bubble machine... Up over and out. Quote
