Christiern Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 For some odd reason, I am still waking up every morning. Here's what greeted me today... Quote
Noj Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 The second one is my new desktop. Thanks Chris! Quote
Free For All Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 For some odd reason, I am still waking up every morning. Well, that's always a good thing, isn't it? I mean as opposed to the alternative...... Quote
Joe G Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I thought this thread was started just today (we got socked with a big snowstorm yesterday), until I read Jim's post and said "What?" Quote
Joe G Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 And I guess we lost ben*diks somewhere along the line? Quote
Christiern Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 Same views, different morning... and 3 hours later... ad here is my guardian pelican. He's looking east, I'm looking south, on Central Park West... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 And I guess we lost ben*diks somewhere along the line? Probably when I accidentally deleted the member table of the database and tried to go to our "monthly" backups that never actually existed (that sucked). Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 So, I guess those are the Queensboro and Williamsburg bridges in the second photo? MG Quote
Noj Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Anyone else jealous of Chris' view? Great pictures, Chris. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Yes, it is a nice air conditioner.....how many BTUs you think it is? Quote
Christiern Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 MG, that is the Triboro Bridge and, to its left, a railroad bridge that I cannot name. Weizy, I don't recall the BTU, but it keeps me cool and dry on nasty NYC summer days. It also is quite good at running up my ConEd bill! Quote
7/4 Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 He probably too far North to see the Williamsburg, particularly at that angle. Isn't that the Empire State building next to the AC in that 3rd shot? Quote
Christiern Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 He probably too far North to see the Williamsburg, particularly at that angle. Isn't that the Empire State building next to the AC in that 3rd shot? On a clear day, I can see the Whitestone Bridge, but not the Williamsburg. Yes, thats the Empire State, and--if you look closely--you can also see the Chrysler Building, the Citicorp building, and the Plaza Hotel. Here's a closer look at those buildings, taken 3 months ago (wasn't the park beautiful?): Quote
Brownian Motion Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 So, I guess those are the Queensboro and Williamsburg bridges in the second photo? MG The bridge on the right is the Triborough Bridge, and on the left, I believe, is the Hell's Gate Bridge, a railroad bridge. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 What I woke up to this morning... Pretty good that a guy his age could scale that wall and maintain his balance on the ledge. What the heck did you do when you saw him out there brandishing that piece, Chris????? I wonder how he got your address???? Quote
Christiern Posted February 11, 2008 Author Report Posted February 11, 2008 He didn't look like Cheney, so I felt safe. Anyway, he was aiming at the pelicans. Quote
Christiern Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 This morning it snowed--for a minute, I could forget that I was in Manhattan. Guess cell phones work in the snow, too... Quote
Bright Moments Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 ad here is my guardian pelican. He's looking east, I'm looking south, on Central Park West... i am digging that pelican!!! do you know anything about the architecture of your building chris? Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 them pigeon eating species ... a must in the city! Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 I don't wake up to this scene everyday but I do pass this location almost every day. It's one of the reasons I finally bought a camera. Quote
Christiern Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 I love pictures like that, and it is a good thing that you don't wake up to this scene! BMm I'm trying to find info on the architect. All I can tell you now is that the building dates back to 1929 and that the architect has pelicans on other buildings in town. Quote
Christiern Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 Shadows on the snow looked good this morning... Quote
Dan Gould Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Not that I can't find out online but just how many inches fell in your "front yard" Chris? Quote
catesta Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I don't wake up to this scene everyday but I do pass this location almost every day. It's one of the reasons I finally bought a camera. Is that in Jersey? Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Is that in Jersey? Yes. Market Street in Elmwood Park Quote
