I am looking for:

1968 "Barry Miles Presents His New Syncretic Compositions" Venture Records.

In any form whatsoever!

This was reviewed in Down Beat when it was "released" and received 5 stars.

is it against forum rules to reply to your own post just to keep it

up there where people will notice it?

No, the common way is a new message simply saying "up". BUT I must say you are looking for very rare lps of "questionable" musical value and don't think you will have the patience to type "up" 'til you get them.

You are starting 30 years late OR have unlimited funds.

what does "questionable"musical value mean?if someone wants these recordings, thats their business.i don't think he asked for a review.

What don't you understand about " "?

I don't think I offered a review, though I know the material.

Why negativity towards my message?

talk about being negative, why not tell the guy that you don't know where to find them, but good luck with your search. rather than your negative reply that these recordings have "questionable" musical value.

in regard to your pm, merry christmas & happy new year to you to!

Hi all.

Its kinda funny.. I've emailed some people and posted on some other sites looking for some hard to find LPs (including these ones) and generally the response has been quite negative. I think sometimes people have quite legitimate reasons for their scepticism (pushing up prices of out-of-print records?). Other times I'm not sure why they want to discourage people from seeking out old LPs. I still find it quite exciting even though I've been picking up interesting items wherever I can for a number of years now.

As for the quality of the music on the LPs I've mentioned...well, as Mike said it's 100% subjective.

I'm a big fan of free-improv-out-jazz from the 60s/70s. It positively affects my heart and soul like nothing else ever has. I thought Chuck might understand more than many why someone might like to get their hands on some rare vinyl from this musically & historically extra-important era.

OH YEAH.... unfortunately I don't have unlimited funds. But if I was rich I'd probably blow it all on records!

Happy holidays, have fun

I thought my use of "questionable" and musical value would be understood as tongue in cheek! I had no idea anyone would see my post as anything else.

I am still befuddled.

I thought it funny...

Anyway, in regards to panckko's note, vinyl collectors and those who 'hold out' for nice LP copies are often lambasted as 'objectifiers.' I know Chuck doesn't think that way and a lot of people on this board are less of that mindset than elsewhere (thank God - I'd be run out of here in a minute if so), but I've noticed it elsewhere. AAJ, for example.

Needless to say, I'll hold onto mine until somebody offers me the Watts on Savoy or the Black Unity Trio, but I feel panckko's pain! <_<

I understood the quotes to indicate that your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek. Jeez, everything on the Nessa label is of "questionable" musical value! That's how I read it.

Panko - no offense, but I think if someone had a lead for you, they would have mentioned it by now.

Lots taken.. I'm pretty sure new people sign up to this site all the time?

Will refrain from dipping into your classifieds in future. All the best. P
