Claude Schlouch Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Hi, A friend saw a movie produced and directed by Will Cowan for Universal Pictures in which Charlie Parker plays in the Lionel Hampton's Band. Did someone has further information about this association? Thanks for your help! Quote

Claude, whatever your friend was having when he saw that, I'll have the same He was probably refering to the Lionel Hampton shorts that were shown on Mezzo TV Wednesday evening. Watched them. Most of them produced by Will Cowan. Videos were horrible tenth-generation copies. Did not catch any Bird but caught a glimpse of Wes Montgomery who was allowed a very brief solo space in one of the video, also Benny Bailey was in the trumpet section. The Parker your friend mentioned was probably singer Sonny Parker who was introduced in one of the shorts! Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 I think all are confusing this "concept" with the reality of the Fred Hampton / Dorothy Parker film circulating among collectors. -_- Quote
