Soulstation1 Posted February 27, 2006 Author Report Posted February 27, 2006 anyone heard of this cd? Quote
Joe Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 "Trane Whistle" is pretty smoking. I prefer this version to the (slightly ater) big band treatment, in fact. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Used to have the lp, don't have the cd. I remember liking the tenor, vibes, organ sound. Quote
Noj Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 My favorite tracks on this one are the first two, "Trane Whistle" and "Doxy." Quote
mailman Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 I downloaded this one from emusic a couple of months ago. Excellent. I really like the vibes-organ combination and Nelson plays really well here. It's a winner. Quote
brownie Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I have had the original vinyl for years. This was not really my favorite Oliver Nelson at the time but I have grown to like the album. Not enough Lem Winchester dates available! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Never noticed JHS was on this. Goes to the top three of my list! Thanks for posting pic of sleeve SS1. MG Quote
kinuta Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 'Taking Care Of Business' is very nice. You might also like ' Nocturne'(OJC) with Lem Winchester,'Meet Oliver Neslon'(OJC) and Shirley Scott's ' Blue Seven'(OJC). 'Blue Seven' was pretty hard to find but worth the effort. It 'really burns' to use the accepted vernacular. Quote
