slide_advantage_redoux Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 I saw this on Craigslist today. This is sadly typical of how so many people in the buying public view musicians and their overall value. BTW, if anyone in the D/FW is interested in the gig, go for it! Here is the ad in its entirety: I'm looking for different prices and different music styles for my wedding ceremony. It's Friday March 9, 2007. The ceremony starts at 7, so we would only need you from 6:30-7:45, 8 at the latest. We're undecided on the style of music we want, and have a feeling we won't know until we hear it. If it helps, I love the harp, and string quartets, but they seem to be too expensive. I'm looking for someone closer to the $200 mark. I also like acoustic classic guitar, and I LOVE the style that is at the beginning of Hotel California. Also like steel drums, but since the wedding isn't at the beach, I don't know how that would sound. Please e-mail me Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 She needs a dj with a large collection. Maybe a dj named $200 Mark. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 And a mark he would indeed be... ...why is everyone picking on me??? Mark~ Should we call "marks" sheldons from now on? Quote
Uncle Skid Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 And a mark he would indeed be... ...why is everyone picking on me??? Mark~ Should we call "marks" sheldons from now on? Better than calling them "Skid Marks"! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Hell, I'll take the job. I'm not sure what kind of music I would play on any of the mentioned instruments, as I have no experience on any of them. But I'm sure we'd know what it was when we heard it... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 People like that should really either forego music altogether or just rent a small sound system and play a Kenny G CD. Why even bother? Quote
DukeCity Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 I worked in a wedding band (also in the D/FW area) and the leader had a meeting at the office of the father of the bride. Father starts the meeting by saying, "Well, me and mah family don't take much to music, so it's prob'ly best if y'all just handle it..." And "handle it" we did. Quote
