mikeweil Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 It's easily done: just remove the cable ends from one of your speakers and readjust them the other way round - the process can be reversed at any time without damage (if you want to be careful switch off the amp before you do it, at least the speakers). Claude Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 (edited) It's easily done: just remove the cable ends from one of your speakers and readjust them the other way round It must be done with both speaker cables (either on the side of the speakers or the side of the amplifier). It will sound horrible if only the polarity of one speaker is reversed. Edited September 15, 2006 by Claude Quote
shaft Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Hi Guys! You have to be bit careful with RVG's mastering - especially on the Japanese RVG's. He very often narrowed the stereo perspective A LOT. Sometimes to almost mono. I myself don't like that. Reversing the absolute polarity can maybe have a positive effect but it won't get the stereo spread back. Well nobody said it did but just to clarify ;.) /Shaft BTW The Donald Byrd "off to the races" is really really good music. Stay clear of the JRVG. It's horrible. Get the TOCJ instead or this new RVG if it's ok. I haven't listened to it myself. Quote
Parkertown Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Okay...I tried it. (on both speakers) I do believe it was somewhat improved. Too bad about the narrowed soundstage...can someone please tell me if the new domestic one is narrowed as well, or is it nice n' wide? Thanks Greg M...heh...I mean Lon. You too, Claude. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I'll just pretend you didn't almost call me Greg M! I don't mind the narrowed soundstage myself, that sounds a lot like the way I hear music in clubs myself. The tonality does improve with the reversed polarity on many JRVGs. Quote
BruceH Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 (edited) I'll probably get Here To Stay and Happenings this weekend. (Can't believe it's September already.) Edited September 15, 2006 by BruceH Quote
Parkertown Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Heh, I thought you'd appreciate my ribbin', Lon...heh... Hey! I see a Greg M. posted on the Prestive RVG thread yesterday... Is that really him? I really only ever had a problem with him when he'd get snotty...otherwise, no big deal. Quote
jmjk Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Heh, I thought you'd appreciate my ribbin', Lon...heh... Hey! I see a Greg M. posted on the Prestive RVG thread yesterday... Is that really him? I really only ever had a problem with him when he'd get snotty...otherwise, no big deal. I was wondering about Greg M myself, Parkertown. He never got snotty with me, but I don't think I ever challenged his views on SACD. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I guess I should have put a smiley in there Scott. Once Greg was my friend, and then I tried to talk to him about some of his ideas and attitudes, and he returned the favor and well. . .it got ugly and went on from there. I wish him well. Quote
Ron S Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Fellas, I think this is a different Greg M. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Scott and I know which Greg we're talkin' about! Quote
Ron S Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Scott and I know which Greg we're talkin' about! No doubt. Still, better safe than sorry given Scott and jmjk's query re our new, as-of-yet-unblemished Greg M. Quote
