Michel_M Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Hi, Saw on an italian site (Contro Tempo) that they have a lot of Mosaic sets for sale, including some OOP (Woods, Fuller, Charles Brown (!), Giuffre, Philipps, Shank). How come ? Price seems a bit high for some but great for others (Woods at 100 euros). If the're available may be someone here can make a good deal Here Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 ControTempo have never let me down; they filled all but one of my orders. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Thanks for the heads up, Michel, and the endorsement, Hans. I'm gonna be broke as shit now, but I vowed if I ever found that Woods set cheap enough, I'd go for it. Oh well, what's plastic for but to regret later... Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Keep lookin'!! I found a used McLean mosaic once for $40 (this was as recently as about a year ago, 18 months ago tops). I already had it, and gave it to a buddy of mine for two crisp $20 bills. At that time, it had gone for as much as $250 on eBay, and nearly always at least $200. Quote
DrJ Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 I found my used Herbie Nichols set for list price many years after it had gone OOP at the old Jazz Canadiana site (RIP). My only regret is that I passed on the OOP Mingus Candid set (why I will never be able to satisfactorily explain) they also had for list price... Quote

Jazzmoose Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 The Woods set is sold out! Damn straight; I ain't hesitating! Now, a Euro is what, like 20 cents U.S.? Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Now, a Euro is what, like 20 cents U.S.? Not quite - today's exchange rate: €1 = $1.08 / $1 = €0.93, and the dollar is rising fast against the euro. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Gahhhhh! Cancel! Cancel! Sigh...too late; they emailed me and said it shipped yesterday. Oh well.. (Seriously, I assumed it was still somewhere around an even exchange, so it's cool! ) Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 And it arrived today; pretty fast shipment from Italy! I'll have to add my endorsement to the list...I'm a satisfied customer. Quote
Brad Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Those prices are pretty steep. You might do better on ebay. The Jacquet is 80 Euros. That's almost 87 bucks. The Hamilton is around 160 Euros. That's almost 180 Dollars! At those prices, I'll pass. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Well, the Woods was 100 Euros; the few times I've tried for it on eBay, it's ended up at around $175, and I just couldn't justify that. Quote
Brad Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 That's true. That's a pretty good deal. Quote
