Dmitry Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 To say that this track has nothing to do with the rest of the cd is a bit of an understatement. I love this track. It has a certain cerebral Herbie-Wayne quality to it. Freddie Hubbard Rouse Tyner Cranshaw Higgins rec. 01/22/1965 Is the rest of this session available elsewhere? This track also appears on the Lost Session BN cd, which I forgot, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the Connoissuer, since I already have the TOCJ cd. Anyway, how about the rest of the session? I got to hear it. Quote
Big Al Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 According to the Lost Sessions notes, this was the only track salvageable from an otherwise unsuccessful straight-ahead session. Quote
RDK Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 A bit of trivia, but that track was also used as the "theme" for Blue Note Radio back in the day. On the old BN board, I once asked what that tune was and nobody knew it at the time. A great track imo, and I agree with Dmitry: I'd love to hear the whole session. Quote

mgraham333 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I was playing this the other day, first on Rouse's BNB, then on The Lost Sessions Connoisseur. I enjoy One For Five and would love to hear the rest of the session. Maybe it's time for another Lost Sessions volume or maybe even The Rejected Sessions . The Rouse session and the Trainwreck would probably be at the top of the list...but what else? I started a new topic here. Quote
AndrewHill Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I also a fan of One for Five. Turns out that I like that track best! However, if that is the only useable track, I'm satisfied to just have just One for Five only. Why spoil one track by releasing the rest of the session, if it didn't go well? Quote
Bluerein Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Very well put Holy Ghost!!!! All this whining for rejected tracks must stop. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 No, it must continue until they are released! Quote
mgraham333 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Very well put Holy Ghost!!!! All this whining for rejected tracks must stop. Do you own Andrew Hill's Passing Ships...or the first Andrew Hill Select? If so....you're welcome for the whining. Quote
