Guy Berger Posted February 8, 2007 Report Share Posted February 8, 2007 Oscar P is a guy whose work gets trashed a lot, and I'm not too familiar with the rest of his work, but this is a very nice trio album w/Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen. I don't remember if I've mentioned "This Could Be The Start Of Something" before here, but I love this version even if it's not really complete. The songs are on the short side, but the playing is very good. Some bluesy playing which I really enjoy. A nice groove going on here. There is certainly alot to listen to with 17 tracks. OK, he's not an innovator or major trend-setter, but he's one of the most accomplished pianists in jazz & his playing is just plain beautiful, even on his cheesier albums.
