i'd love to change my gravel to crushed coral but it would cost over $100

my gravel is the color in the tank above

right now i have 3" - 4" of gravel on the bottom

crushed coral = cichlids fav

i'd like to get it set up like an African stream

When I was in high school I had a tank of black angelfish. Plants were all local from the swamps (in south Georgia). Nowadays, I get the bug about every six months or so, dig out my aquarium books and plan out my dream aquarium. By the time I finish, I always get over it and just put the books back on the shelf. I figure those books have saved me a TON of money over the last thirty years...

i bought some more plants and getting ready to put a big piece of driftwood in the tank

i'm finding stuff i need on the internet 50% cheaper than in the local stores

100 gall air pump everywhere in town $40, internet price $18

same thing with light bulbs $32 in town, internet price $16 / $17

someone broke into a local shop and cleaned him out on all his expensive coral

my one fear is and was if you get a big fish and it dies it is kinda gross getting it out of the tank and then you cant flush it.

dude, you ever go to some of hardcore chinese seafood places in nyc & see their tanks, or the prehistoric giant clams? i think that shit's fasinating & know the aversion is just visceral but... that said, the only "flushing" you gotta know is QUEENS-- put that sumbitch on ice quick, get thee to one of the chinatowns & SELL IT.

You mean geoducks?

They actually aren't very good. To much squishy stuff to have in your mouth at one time. You find these things on the beach in the northwest.

I remember being at an apartment for a party a few years ago. They had a bunch of aquariums with no fish, only plants. Except in one of the tanks I saw a giant snail, about the size of a tennis ball. It was awesome -- no flushing that sucker down the toilet.
