chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 my friend DV4EVA ordered his complete capitol recs but i went for the early more raw esquerita demo session + 1 early 45 and 1 side of 1 later 45 from the late 60s. any esquerita fans here? Quote
jostber Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 He's the orginial rock'n'roll maniac from the 50's. Little Richard learned something about chops and looks from him in his early days. Esquerita remained pretty obscure though in spite of a lot of great records. Quote
Stereojack Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Love Esquerita! Rock & roll madman! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Posted April 25, 2007 actually little richard who influenced esq's visual style, but it was esquirta who influenced l.r's MUSICAL style-- the two influenced eachother-- (in more ways than one- wink wink) Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 ESQUERITA SHOULD OF BEEN ON BLUE NOTE Esquerita, aka SQ Rita, aka S. Q. Reeder, aka the Magnificent Malucchi. Quite a character. Quote

Aggie87 Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 while i have nothing bad to say about Esquerita i woulda thought chewy more an Esquivel admirer.... you do know Esquivel, right, chewy? edc Ah yes, Esquivel aka SQ Evil. That's Dr. Evil, if you will! (plus his cohort Mini-Chew) Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 FWIW, I think Esquerita and Esquivel had the same optometrist. Maybe the same hairdresser. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Esquivel is GOD! Boy are you going to be disappointed. Quote
RDK Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Esquivel is GOD! Boy are you going to be disappointed. Okay, maybe not God, but certainly one of the hipper angels. Quote

donald byrd 4 EVA Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Don't forget Esquerita's other name: Fabulash Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 of course i know esqueviel Quote
Shannon Dickey Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Esquirita's other name was Fabulon Lash, he used that one for his campy, gay nightclub act. Esquivel, pronounced "Ess-Key-Vell" Both were fantastic artists. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 how do u know? according to my sources it was FABULASH what a great gay nickname that is: i bet his 1970s shows made a elton john concert look like seals and crofts Quote
Shannon Dickey Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Chewy- Try to find KICKS magazine, issue 5, maybe it was issue 4, Mirriam Linna did an exhaustive article on Esquerita, that is where I got my info. ----HB Quote
Shannon Dickey Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Chewy- It was in KICKS issue # 3, and the interview was conducted by Mirriam's husband Billy Miller. The Magazine is kinda rare but very revealing. Esquerita also went by: Eskew Reeder, S.Q. Reeder, The Great Molochi....... Fascinating character! Esquerita died a pauper in 1996 (or was it '86?).... ---HB Quote
