You'll find only few members here are really into any kind of freer stuff... there used to be this very active thread here, but it's come to almost a halt of late:

The Wadada album is fine (better, I think, than the yellow one on Tzadik).

Two I just picked up are the second of Billy Bang's Vietnam albums (liked the first one quite a bit) and one of AEC's Pi Recordings, [sirius calling]. Haven't played them yet, though...

Not sure if Kahil El'Zabar goes under free... I also got that live set of his with Billy Bang (the band's made up of Yoron Israel and Ari Brown), where they do that great groovy homage to Malachi. All together though I found the disc too long to really sustain interest...

This recent release on Clean Feed is highly recommended: Wally Shoup, Gust Burns, Reuben Radding and Greg Campbell are the players.

Yeah, that record kicks ass.

Clean Feed is a pretty reliable label, imo - especially the early Portuguese improv releases, if you can find 'em.

Clean Feed catalog is available through emusic. Any particular Portuguese sessions that you would recommend?

Wildflowers: The New York Loft Jazz Sessions.

I wish I could find it.

Only 300$ on Amazon & ebay.

There's a pirate edition, goes for 25 € on amazon.de - it's a digipack, Douglas label (not sure how pirate that is, but I always thought it was a rip-off of the "old" Knit edition, which I have, by the way).
