Guy Berger Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Just listened to this for the first time recently. (Part of a big BMG Blue Note binge.) It's phenomenal, one of the very best Jimmy Smith albums I've heard! And I'm not a hardcore JS fan. Guy Quote

BruceH Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 All the solos were made from scratch! Quote
mikeweil Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I must admit that I like this better than J.O.S. albums with Turrentine ... Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 I've always felt that all the solos on this one are particularly and extremely BLUE. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Kate's? great, great album! and that's some crazy leather car coat with that bigass knit collar. JOS & BJP loved them bigass collars. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 It's a great album. Somewhere we had a discussion about this before. I have a strong feeling it was intended not to be an album but as a bunch of 45s. MG Quote

I was curious and checked. Surprisingly, only one 45 - "Motorin' Along"/"Since I Fell for You" - was issued from this date, and "Since I Fell for You" wasn't included on the original LP. Quote
