Original Rutles reunite for 30th anniversary

Mods & Rockers Film Festival Salutes Rutles 30th Anniversary Original Members Reunite For Screening Celebration

Los Angeles -- Monday March 3, 2008 -- March sees the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the Rutles film "All You Need Is Cash". (World Premiere: NBC - Wednesday March 22nd 1978)

To celebrate this landmark occasion - the Hollywood-based Mods & Rockers Film Festival is presenting the official celebration of the Rutles' 30th anniversary with a gala event at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. It will take place on Monday March 17th 2008.

There will be a screening of the digitally-restored 1978 version of the film. There will also be a treasure trove of Rutles rarities that will be presented at the event including the rarely-seen 1975 British TV skit that inspired the film, Rutles-related footage from "Saturday Night Live" (1976 & 1977) and highlights from the 2003 film "Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch".

The four Rutles - Eric Idle, Neil Innes, Ricky Fataar and John Halsey (Dirk, Nasty, Stig, & Barry respectively) - will be the guests of honor at the event - with other key members of the Rutles production team also invited.

The Rutles will partake in a Q&A after the film with Mods & Rockers producer/host Martin Lewis - who produced the Rutles second album "Archaeology" in 1996. And the evening may also feature a couple of musical surprises!

Many celebrities have appeared in Rutles films and music videos over the years including:

Robin Williams • Steve Martin • George Harrison • Mick Jagger • David Bowie • Peter Gabriel • Ron Wood • Bill Murray • John Belushi • Dan Aykroyd • Billy Connolly • Jimmy Fallon • Tom Hanks • Conan O'Brien • Carrie Fisher • Bill Maher • Graham Nash • Bonnie Raitt • Dave Stewart • Slash • Paul Simon (see full list below)

The Mods & Rockers Film Festival has been presented by the American Cinematheque since 1999 and has become America's largest and most influential festival of rock-culture films. In addition to its annual summer season, the festival also presents special events such as anniversary screenings and premieres.

Tickets for the event go on sale immediately. $10. ($8 for students/seniors • $7 for Cinematheque members).
