bertrand
It seems the LP track order was: The Peace-Maker (Harold Land) Stylin' (Harold Land) 40 Love (Harold Land) Angel Dance (Harold Land) Time Table (Harold Land) Imagine (Sammy Cahn, Francis Lai) The Aquarian (Harold Land) One for Nini (Harold Land) but the fairly recent Japanese CD seems to have this order: One for Nini The Peace-maker 40 Love Time Table Angel Dance Imagine Stylin' The Aquarian Also, Verve's website claims that it was reissued a couple of years ago domestically - what's up with that? Can anyone confirm that the LP sequence and CD sequence are different? Thanks, Bertrand.
ejp626
Can anyone confirm that the LP sequence and CD sequence are different? Thanks, Bertrand. Hi I have one of these Japanese imports, looks to be from 2005. They have the tracks listed as on the LP, both on the liner notes and printed on the CD. Going by timings is a little trickier. Most appear to match the timings printed in the original liner notes (so they probably didn't switch the tracks), though tracks 3 and 4 appear to be about 20 seconds shorter than the timings listed on the LP. felser
Also, Verve's website claims that it was reissued a couple of years ago domestically - what's up with that? It was not released on CD domestically - I had beelnlooking for it for years. Maybe for download only on Verve's site, but I don't remember seeing that either (though I haven't kept current on the downloads, as I hate the concept). I had contacted Mosaic a few years ago suggesting a Hutcherson/Land set, and they had told me it was actually in the works, but obviously it has never appeared either. Probably they couldn't get the rights to the Mainstream LP's released under Land's name, I guess, though maybe this one was an/the issue. brownie
Bertrand, track order on my vinyl copy (Cadet, promotional LP) of 'The Peace-Maker' is: side 1: - The Peace-Maker - Stylin' (Land plays flute and Colin Bailey plays harmonica on that one) - 40 Love - Angel Dance side 2: - Timetable (correct, not Time Table) - Imagine - The Aquarian - One for Nini
bertrand
Thanks to everyone for their input. Brownie, good to hear from you again! ejp626, what are the timings on the LP liner notes vs. the timings on the CD? Thanks, Bertrand. ejp626
Thanks to everyone for their input. Brownie, good to hear from you again! ejp626, what are the timings on the LP liner notes vs. the timings on the CD? Thanks, Bertrand. Ok, the first number is from the back of the CD, which is a reprint of the LP cover. The second number is the track timing (from Winamp). Peacemaker 5:10 5:11 Stylin 3:34 3:37 40 Love 5:15 4:51 Angel Dance 3:57 3:40 Timetable 4:15 4:12 Imagine 3:22 3:26 The Aquarian 5:25 5:33 One for Nini 4:57 4:
bertrand
Thanks again. I wonder what would have been in the Mosaic? A Mosaic select of non-Blue Note material would have included: The Peace-Maker Choma (Burn) A New Shade Of Blue Damisi (no Hutcherson on this one) and at least one bonus track which was on the long OOP Damisi CD but actually seems to belong to Shade Of Blue. I would buy this in a heartbeat. If they wanted to include the Blue Note sessions, then you would need a big box, and include: Total Eclipse Spiral Medina San Francisco Now! Cirrus Head On and maybe some others? I wonder what their later collaborations are like (Timless All-Stars etc.) I will post something in recommendations later. Bertrand. andybleaden
Now that would be a lovely box...imagine ( although I have all of them already!) all the extra notes /photos..really different music from session to session...not going to happen I would guess...I have some of the bootleg stuff with these two from 69 -70 and they were really cooking. Got the japanese copy of the Peacemaker after long searching.....well worth the wait
