Teasing the Korean Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Dominic Frontiere's music for "The Outer Limits" is among the best ever written for television. A (brief) CD with music from 3 episodes is/was out on GNP. Now, there is a 3 CD set! www.lalalandrecords.com Edited June 3, 2008 by Teasing the Korean Quote
BruceH Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 I'll pass. You just don't like other people controlling your television set. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 4, 2008 Author Report Posted June 4, 2008 I'll pass. Good. There's only 3,000. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 I'm just not that crazy about that show, or televion show music cds. Quote
JSngry Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 I want me some The Rat Pack TV music. I need to hear what Miles was telling Tony to go for. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 4, 2008 Author Report Posted June 4, 2008 I'm just not that crazy about that show, or televion show music cds. I could care less whether music is written for a TV show, a "jazz" album, or a porn soundtrack. Good music is good music. I'll take Dominic Frontiere over warmed-over "jazz" any day. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 Fine. I don't remember being impressed with the music on the show. I'm going to pass. I'm NOT knocking the release! Just having getting some exercise passing somethings along. Quote

The show in general wasn't as good afterwards, when corporate interests watered everything down, including the music. Typical, huh? Quote
Ron S Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) That show used to scare the shit outa me: Of course, I was only 7 or 8 years old when it was first on. But I was attracted to it like a moth to a flame, and dug the eeriness of the music even at that age. Edited June 4, 2008 by Ron S Quote

AllenLowe Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) twilight zone sucked - try watching the reruns and you'll wonder what you ever saw in that show - and the WORST ones are the ones written by Serling - Edited June 5, 2008 by AllenLowe Quote

But I was attracted to it like a moth to a flame, and dug the eeriness of the music even at that age. It was exactly the same with me. The episodes varied widely in quality, but the show made a big impression and the music was a part of that for sure. After a while, even as a kid, the different-monster-every-week approach began to wear thin, but I still watched it. Quote

Well, if we're talking about the original 1960s series, there were only 2 seasons (1963-65), and the first season had lots of the classic Outer Limits monsters. Also, the second season had some interesting episodes with minimal monster factor: http://www.innermind.com/outerlimits/guides/ol01.txt Edited June 5, 2008 by Ron S Quote
