Van Basten II Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 So with Roger having the slump of his life, speculating on who's gonna win will be more fun this year... Watched the ceremony tonight, about 25 years ago who when i still was a skinny teenager, i was in love with georgous looking Gabriella Sabatini, not a teen anymore, not thin either but oh my, does Gaby still looks wonderful after all these years Quote
Van Basten II Posted August 28, 2008 Author Report Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Top seed Ivanovic got dropped by french player Julie Coin. Only saw the third set, key moment was when at 2-2 Coin on her serve was struggling 0-40 but she survived and managed to hold on her serve. It kind of broken Ivanovic's spirit , she got broken easily on her serve and then it was a question of time. Coin will meet fellow french women Mauresmo in the third round , Cocorico !!!! AndrewHill Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Yeah, w/ Coin ranked 188th in the world this is a huge victory for her. Kinda like how everyone seems to be getting a piece of Federer this year, although, Federer did very well the other night. Great match between Fish v. Mateau, where Fish was playing extremely well, even though he dropped a set. Murray is looking very sharp as well. Quote
AndrewHill Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Another straight set victory for Federer, although he had to earn it. Maybe its just me, but RFed is looking very sharp...I see a enthralling final on the horizon.... Quote
Tim McG Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) US Open? Um. Didn't Tiger Woods win that one already? Edited August 30, 2008 by GoodSpeak Quote
AndrewHill Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 Some great tennis last night, especially Fish's straight set win over Blake and Nishikori's impressive five-set win over Ferrer. Safina in the women's draw did not look nearly as sharp as she's been throughout the US Open series, but somehow she managed to pull it together and defeat Bacsinsky in three sets. My dark horse pick in the men's draw is a toss up between Del Potro and Monfils who are both doing very well in their part of the draw, which is why I think that we are in store for a potentially terrific match-up. Van Basten II Posted September 1, 2008 Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 Anybody watching the Nadal-Querrey match right now Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Yeah, it was good for Querry to get a set off of Nadal, even though the odds were against him winnning today. Great win for Fish over Monfils too and a surprisingly lackluster performance from Warwinka which lead to Murrary's victory tonight. Del Potro though sailed through in straights as well. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Good five set match between Djokovic and Robredo. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 GREAT five set match between Federer and Andreev! Federer had to work it out tonight! And then there's the qualifier Muller who's defeated some great players, including Davydenko today, to battle his way to the quarters to meet RFed. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) the key point of the match was when in the 5th set when Federer was to able to keep in play Nedeev's wicked serve , Andreev made a very fine drop shot but Federer managed to track the ball and delivered an outstanding lob on the backline that Nedeev hit back out of the play. You knew then that Federer would not be denied. Edited September 3, 2008 by Van Basten II Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Starting to look like a straight set win for Roddick... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Serena v Venus Today Serena's booty is redonkulous Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 Game got delayed because of the very long quarter between Murray and Del Potro. Gotta say i have little interest watching the sis' playing against each other... Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 Are they going to freakin' play, wanna see the Nadal game. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 Took an hour just to play one set, the Nadal-Fish will probably start at around 11 pm Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Serena won. I'm stayin' up to watch Nadal v. Fish...should (I hope) be an interesting match. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 Is it fair to them to make them play at this time of the day, the game won't be over at least after 1 am, if it's a marathon type of game they could very well be playing until 4 am. And i'm not just saying that because it's way over my bedtime. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Fish is off to a good start with consolidating that break. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 What a great first set-Fish is playing some very intelligent tennis here! Now the task is to keep playing at this level to pull the upset. Quote
papsrus Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Tennis at 1 a.m. ... Happens every year with this tournament. Works for the west coast, I guess. ... and the city that never sleeps. ... what the hell, why not ... (Go Fish) Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 My problem is not so much the fact they play after 1 than the fact the game started after 11 pm. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I like the night matches under the lights. Its the only grand slam that has night matches (pretty sure the Australian doesn't). Quote
Soulstation1 Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 venus vs serena the match stat venus 0-10 on set points Quote
