Alexander Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 From Wikipedia: "They do not kill the host animal, and thus are true parasites (though some species of rodent-infesting botflies do consume the host's testes/ovaries)." Quote
Alexander Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Botflies seem to be mainly found in tropical climes (South and Central America/Africa), but it seems that some species are found in the southern US as well as southern Onterio and northern British Columbia. The larvae are sometimes found in the bodies of caribou and reindeer and are a delicacy among Native populations. Eek! Quote

BruceH Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 So we could have seen a clip of THAT in the background while Palin droned on and on in the foreground???? Quote
Quincy Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Ah yes...I used to do wildlife rehab so have seen these buggers more times than I'd care too. The worst was when someone brought in a fawn (which they shouldn't have done.) Easily the most disgusting thing I've ever set eyes on. Now to purge that vision from my brain again. clifford_thornton Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 It takes too long to load and the buffering slows it down even more. So no botfly removal for me. Quote
