Jazzmoose Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Call me a cynic, but I find the ad cynical in the extreme. I'm with the Youtube poster who says this: 'The only thing that is "amazing" about this video is how it angles to boomers, and attempts to pick up this generation in the wake. The joke being that it was the Boomers that criminalized much of everything shown in this video. They are 10x more oppressive than the great generation, ANY DAY!!! Trust a man who went to Normandy, fear a man that went to the jungle... The people on the sand will never be right.' While I couldn't elaborate without getting the thread moved to the politics forum, I agree 100%. There's no fascist like a boomer fascist... Quote
sheldonm Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 I'm about 10 years behind you, JS, but as a kid I always thought it was the reverse--or at least that Pepsi was hipper and Coke was kinda square. 7-Up in the late-60s/early 70s was hipper than both of them put together! Quote
Shawn Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Back in the 70's the main soft drink that my Grandmother would bring home was good ole RC Cola. Remember that? Quote
JSngry Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 They still make it, at least in these parts. Forever immortalized by Jerry "Ar-uh-Cee-uh Cola and uh Moon Pie" Clower! But apparently, known as "Royal Crown", it had an Eastern following as well. Remember the Michael Stivic Cola Blindfold Test on that episode of All In The Family? Royal Crown was one of the contestants. Upon meditation, what I've always preferred about Pepsi over Coke was their relative "dryness". Pepsi tastes "wet", Coke "dry". When I'm quenching my thirst w/cola, I want wet. Mileages obviously vary on that one, but there's mine. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 A cafe I frequent (New World Deli) has Royal Crown on tap, it's a nice nostalgic drink. I'm almost completely over soft drinks, but I suspect in the summer I'll buy "Blue Sky" soft drinks when they're on sale. Those advertisements do nothing for me. And it's not because I've always been a Coke, never a Pepsi, guy. They just don't "reach" me. Quote
Kari S Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Nah...these are where it's at. (also, how stupid is that Starbucks thing?) Quote
