ghost of miles Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Anybody here familiar with the Pyramids? A friend of mine recently came across one of their original LPs and was asking me about them--he describes them as a somewhat funkier AACM-type combo. Dusty Groove has several album reissues listed for them. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Been meaning to check these recs out but never got around to it. Quote
JSngry Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Enjoyable enough on its own terms, & recommended as "local history" for a local & a history whose breadth continues to unfold over the years (BOSCO!!!) and fascinate those of us who weren't there at the time but care anyway. Apparently there's somewhat of an ongoing debate over how much of this stuff Ra triggered vs how much of it he anticipated, but I think it's safe to say that if that statement is of interest to you, then so will be The Pyramids. king ubu Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Here's an earlier thread I started, where, among other things, I asked if anyone has any news about the upcoming reissues of the Pyramids albums: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=50580 Quote
