RDK
Trying to identitify this tune played by Cyrus Chestnut on a PBS broadcast. It sounds familiar but... Any ideas?
jazztrain
Part of it sounds like a Jelly Roll Morton tune ("King Porter Stomp" perhaps) but the rest of it doesn't. Just coming up for air for a short break at work. Over and out... Trying to identitify this tune played by Cyrus Chestnut on a PBS broadcast. It sounds familiar but... Any ideas? Big Wheel
The first half of the A sections sounds to me like Rodgers/Hart's "Lover" (which a Google search shows Chestnut has played in the past) but the bridge is totally off, I think. Chuck Nessa
I thought is sounded like a "lesser" JPJ piece poorly played. Now I see I was wrong.

RDK
"Nutman's Invention, No. 2" http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:fbfqxqwjldke Many thanks! I've just impressed someone here at the office who asked me to identify the tune for him. Like Chuck, my thoughts were in the JPJ direction, but I really had no idea other than that it generally sounding "familiar." I told him I "knew people" who could get me the answer by the end of the day.
