Original sessions produced by Alfred Lion

Produced for release by Michael Cuscuna

Recording engineer: Rudy Van Gelder

Mastered using 24-bit analog-to-digital resolution by Ron McMaster.

Session A was recorded in mono only. All others are stereo.

Masters appear courtesy of Blue Note Records, a division of Capitol Records, Inc.

Producer's note:

Rather than program Donaldson's ten sessions in chronological order, we put them in order by musical format which has also enabled us, with two exceptions, to keep each session in tact on a single disc. The "all-star" sessions (C & F) appear on disc one. Discs two through four features his signature piano-bass-drums-congas format. Discs five and six contain the dates with a trumpet added to the front line.

Thanks a lot, Adrian!

I think I have the Washington saved at home... too bad about the Shank/Coop and Pacific trios and Don Pullen - those I'd have loved to get (also the Donaldson, Washington, Slack maybe).

Got the Brookmeyer (great one!) and Patton (still unplayed, no urge for organ jazz of late), luckily!
