Shawn Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Just happened to notice that I passed the 5000 post mark and I find it kind of hard to believe it took me that long. I haven't had much to contribute the past couple years, but I still enjoy browsing the threads. Thanks again to Jim for creating the board and letting me hang around this long. Quote
Brad Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Ditto, I'm taking my sweet time, enjoying the place like a fine cabernet. Quote
Shawn Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 Nice to see I'm not the only one. Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 trying to hit 10,000, but I think it's who-you-know around here. Alfredson's always playing favorites. Send him some chocolate chip cookies and he automatically ups your post numbers by about 800. That's why JSngry is rolling in cookie dough - and Ron S hasn't posted since 1988 - look at HIS numbers. geez, I'm tired of greasing palms. Quote
Brad Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 1988? Don't think we were around then Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 (edited) exactly my point - and I think Ron S has been in prison since 1993 - Edited September 15, 2009 by AllenLowe Quote

jazzbo Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 It's rumored that with 25,000 posts your car gets a new transmission. Quote

I'll repair a whole lot of shit to keep a car rolling, but a transmission ain't one of 'em. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 A friend and I once changed out a transmission in a 1970 Cadillac Coupe. Luckily the crazy German I was working for let us do this in the shop with the crane, torches, etc. Biggest job I ever took on and I was very pround when we had finished. Sore and grimiest I've ever been too. I'll never do it again, BUT I'm glad I did it. Quote
papsrus Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 When I was in college, I changed a blown head gasket once on a late 70s Chevy Malibu. Took me about a week pulling that thing apart and putting it back together again. Problem was, I didn't realize I needed a specific kind of torque wrench to refasten the manifold. As soon as I started that sucker up again, the gasket blew. ... had it towed to a garage and haven't worked on a car since. Quote
