I got the email, too, and got really excited - was about to download the set until I realized that it was the same performance as disc one of the It's About That Time album. Definitely worth hearing if you don't have the album, but I'm glad I realized what it was before I paid for the download.

Jeff and others, you don't have to pay to actually hear the performance. As long as you have a registered account with the site, you can listen via the media player for FREE which the website provides. Hope this helps? Just click on "Play".

I knew that, but I'm such a freak for this edition of Miles' band that I was going to buy the download until I realized that it was the same show as the CD. I agree that this is a great site on which to listen to some excellent music.

I have a few questions about this site. I saw they dropped the price on the 2 Weather Report shows, which have definitely never been issued, so I was going to get them.

1) Cornell 1973 is $4.98 - MP3 only. I assume I can put this in iTunes and burn a CD?

2) Lenox Inn is $6.98 for the MP3, and $8.98 for FLAC. I assume FLAC is better sound quality? Can I still move this to iTunes? Can I still burn a CD? Should I buy the MP3 if I am trying to use iTunes?

Once I've gone through these, I will post the correct set lists.

Thanks for helping out an old man who still doesn't quite get all this stuff.

Bertrand.

Both of these types of files can be downloaded to iTunes and then burned to a cd.

FLAC files are uncompressed so the sound is the best that it can be digitally.

Yes, if you want the best sound on a CD I would purchase the FLAC. You can then add those files to an alternative media player (not Itunes, which as far as I know deals exclusively in MP3s). I use Winamp Player (free download) which can play and burn FLAC files. You can burn your CD using the Winamp player in FLAC and then if you would like to listen to these on your IPOD you can then import the files to Itunes. I forget if it will convert them automatically or if you need to do it on your own beforehand. But I went through this process a few weeks ago and I located a free software program online that can convert FLAC to SHN (another uncompressed format) as well as both FLAC and SHN to MP3 (obviously you can't work your way up from MP3 to better sounding FLAC). Let me know if you need the name of the software and I'll try to locate it.

FYI - there are actually two dates from the March 1970 Fillmore engagement - the one that was released officially (March 7th) and another that was not (March 6th). The 7th is probably superior, but I doubt anyone who likes it would not enjoy the counterpart set.

I was there on the Saturday, but haven't listened to this in years - I recall it as typical Miles of the time - great beauty mixed with long and tiresome passages.

Any change you are mixing this up with the June 1970 gig (also recorded at the Fillmore East) released on At Fillmore - with Steve Grossman on sax, Keith and Chick battling on keyboards? The reason I ask is that I could understand your assessment in the context of the June performances, but not the March ones that are the subject of this thread.
