Stereojack
@ 3:15 Nice to find out the name of the trumpet soloist on "Wonderland By Night' after all these years. It was a big hit when I was in high school.
Big Beat Steve
Not unlikely one bit. This expatriate's presence at Kaempfert's sessions was well known, at least over here, and he was interviewed extensively on his envolvement in a lengthy Kaempfert TV documentation done a few years ago and recently aired once again on German TV. The Youtube stills and clips actually come from that documentation. Nothing unusual as such anyway IMO. I guess the list of major jazz musicians making relatively good bread (ya gotta eat, you know) by participating in pop, easy listening, MOR, Muzak (you name it) studio orchestras during the 40s, 50s and 60s would be as long as anybody's arm without being exhaustive. JSngry
That aspect of Geller's career is anything but well-known in America.
BruceH
First time I've ever heard the word "saxophonist" accented on the second syllable rather than the first. I'm still reeling. Is that standard British pronunciation?
mikeweil
No idea - but I heard Dexter Gordon pronounce it that way in his concerts.
BruceH
No idea - but I heard Dexter Gordon pronounce it that way in his concerts. Really? Well, go figure. BTW, he's one of my favorite ten-OR-ists.
