got a "let freedom ring" in this issue recently WITH vangelder stampers-- its pretty fantastic...

That's the LP version I have. Nothing wrong with the sound but I never compared it with an original one!

I agree with Brownie. Over here, you bought what Blue Notes you could, when you could. So I have several of these dark blue UA editions. No complaints with the sound from me, but I never compared them either.

I have a NY USA DG one side with ear original version, also a Japanese King and a UK late-1970s (Transatlantic/UA?) blue label pressing. My thoughts are that the original comes out best (full bodied, if that makes sense) but will have to check that old UK pressing. I don't think that one had 'Van Gelder' in the runout though.

I think mne was okay. Pressing quality could be variable on these issues though.

its intereting how some of these issues use the rvg stampers-- so these are the old rvg stampers used over after all the original//liberty pressings? is that it? the maiden voyage does not have em...but a lot of them do.......those are the ones i usually try n get if the price is right....

There was a period when the BN LPs - I want to say late 70s early 80s - had the 70s logo design but it was a little glossier and the blue was a little lighter. :Some of these pressings sound really good. The 70s pressings were dodgy, as they were with most labels.
