Hardbopjazz Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 I came across this CD called "Radio Nights" by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet. It is on Hyena Records. Is this a legit release or bootleg? If Hyena is a legit label I will buy this CD. Anyone know? CD review Quote
JSngry Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Totally legit, and very fine material. The Hyena label was a short-lived Joel Dorn endeavor. The "Radio Nights" series were reissues of albums originally issued on an earlier Dorn imprint, Night Records. All are worthwhile. Buy & enjoy. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks. I am ordering the CD. Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Highly recommended, though the recordings are unlikely to be from 1967-68 - my guess based on the material is 1965-66 for the quintet stuff and 1964-65 for the sextet stuff. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 I think you're right there guy. Love this cd (I have the earlier version). Dorn's been gone two years now. I wish he were still around and doing something with recordings. Quote
