Bill B
What about a Red Garland Trio Box with Chambers and Taylor. Are you listening Concord ?
colinmce
How about a complete Prestige Recordings set. There's one to crush the shelves.
Dave James
How about a complete Prestige Recordings set. There's one to crush the shelves. Unfortunately, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. However, I'm pretty sure if Concord's contingent of pointy-headed bean counters can sniff a profit by re-re-releasing already released releases, then it's only a matter of time. Look no further than the currently active Miles Davis thread for confirmation of the endless possibilities. Tom in RI
How about Red Garland on Galaxy?
jazzbo
Actually a Red Garland on Galaxy would be a great set, good idea Tom. Dave, you don't mean that complete Prestige Miles Davis set? THAT is not coming from CONCORD but a European label taking advantage of the Copyright laws. Chuck Nessa
None of this will happen.
jazzbo
You're right. I think the Galaxy material would make a great set though. Who knows, maybe we'll see Fresh Sound or Jazz Beat etc. sets. The only vital reissue programs there are.
Bluerein
Actually it is a Concord set with all the Prestige albums by Miles (without Coltrane). It's issued by Universal/Concord Italy and looks quite nice (and it's cheap in Holland at leaat). http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3766409 Edited February 15, 2010 by Bluerein
Brad
None of this will happen. The voice of reality has spoken, unfortunately.
Cliff Englewood
None of this will happen. I hope not as there is a huge amount of other stuff I would rather see re-issued. It's not like it's hard to find Garland recordings in the first place and would anybody really need all of it.
Tom in RI
I don't think the Red Garlamd Galaxy dates were issued on cd, at least here in the USA (I'm thinking there must have been a Japanese issue).
colinmce
For the record, I was joking about the Complete Prestige Recordings thing. The thought is ridiculous.

Yup that's what I was refering to as well, only I would call it uber, uber ridiculous. :g
Shrdlu
Great idea, Bill! They probably won't do it, but fortunately you can get (most likely) all the material on individual CDs, apart from one session, which is LP only. As there are usually no out-takes with Prestige, one can probably assemble everything that still exists. As has been said before, there are no suprises with Red but it still all sounds fantastic.
