AllenLowe Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 and the (sad) truth is that, without bootlegs, the whole history of jazz might have died from 1960s-1970s neglect. When I started listening to this music in 1968, I cannot tell you how alone I was - it was just me, Chewy, and a couple of winos up on St. Nicholas Avenue (not counting Chris Albertson and Chuck Nessa, of course). JSngry Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Everest was actually legit, I think, at least sometimes. They had the legal rights to Esoteric, Period, (Jerry Newman must be in the mix there somewhere), Charlie Parker Records...not so much on some of the other stuff they issued...but once upon a time they were a "standalone" label w/their own product. Not sure, but I think at some point the were connected w/Monmouth-Evergreen. Quote

So I guess that would be four winos Quote
