Hardbopjazz Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 I am looking to buy one so I can listen to stations that I can't get in NY. Internet radios will basically allow you to listen to any station around the world that broadcast over the Internet. Some hook up to your existing stereo equipment. But there are some many. Does anyone here have one? If so, which one do you have? Sure you can just go to the web site but I want one so when I am not on my computer I can listen. http://www.nextag.com/internet-radio-players/search-html Quote
sonnymax Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Two questions: 1) Are you looking for a Wi-Fi Internet radio? 2) How much are you willing to spend? Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 I am willing to spend around 250 to 300 dollars. WiFi would be a nice feature. Quote
sonnymax Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 If you're looking for a unit with built-in speakers, Logitech has two models worth checking out: the Squeezebox Radio Music Player and the Squeezebox Boom. I'm interested in something to plug into my stereo system, so I'm looking at the Myine Electronics IR001 WiFi Internet Radio Adaptor and the Aluratek AIREC01F WiFi Internet Radio Tuner. Both are under $100 at Amazon. Quote
BFrank Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I just ordered a Squeezebox Radio Music Player from Amazon. Have seen a few good reviews of it. Quote
vajerzy Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I use my Motorola Droid to listen to stations that stream....I use I-Heart radio and Radiotime- between these you have most everything available. Quote

BFrank Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Squeezebox arrived today. I already love it. It's just like a clock/radio except the "radio" has limitless stations! Nice sound, too. Also got a great deal. Amazon was selling it for $150 which included a coupon for an additional $50 off. So, basically 1/2 price. Quote
GA Russell Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I don't think I understand. Do you need a router? Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I've had a Squeezebox v.3 for a while now. Recently been listening to WWOZ out of NO quite a bit. I also listen to last.fm often. Quote
sonnymax Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I don't think I understand. Do you need a router? Yes, you do. Check out the Logitech Squeezebox Radio. I haven't bought a unit yet, but I did start listening to Internet radio through my iPod Touch with the 99-cent Radio app. It too requires a wireless network. Quote
BFrank Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Actually, you don't need a router. You can hook it up to an Ethernet cable. Quote
sonnymax Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Actually, you don't need a router. You can hook it up to an Ethernet cable. That's true, but then you lose the portability of listening to the radio in any room you choose. Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 ps These things are much more than internet radios. Quote
BFrank Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 ps These things are much more than internet radios. Technically, they're not radios at ALL. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Based on the reviews here and over at Amazon, it looks like I might get one of those Squeezebox radios myself. Sounds very cool to me. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) Based on the reviews here and over at Amazon, it looks like I might get one of those Squeezebox radios myself. Sounds very cool to me. I ordered the Squeezebox radio from Amazon Saturday night and it arrived on my doorsteps today. Got things up and running and now listening to KCSM. Great sound too for a small guy. Thanks to all who recommended purchasing it. Edited August 31, 2010 by Tom 1960 Quote
.:.impossible Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 ps These things are much more than internet radios. Technically, they're not radios at ALL. Or internets. Discus amongst yourselves. Quote
