GA Russell Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Delmark has released a new jazz album recorded just this past June called Tight Like This by trumpeter Brad Goode. Goode is from Chicago, and maybe some of you there are familiar with him. In recent years he has been a college professor at the Univ. of Cincinnati and the Univ. of Colorado. Goode is backed here by a piano, bass and drums trio. The playing is very solid, but nothing out of the ordinary. Of the eleven songs, five are Goode originals. This is not-too-hard hard bop. It's good. http://www.amazon.com/Tight-Like-This-Brad-Goode/dp/B003UOM5NI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287451964&sr=1-1 Quote
GA Russell Posted November 30, 2010 Author Report Posted November 30, 2010 I see that Doug Ramsey discusses this album in his Rifftides blog today. He has a very high opinion of it. http://www.artsjournal.com/rifftides/ Quote

Free For All Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) I like what I've heard by Brad, Goode's good. ...... You've got it Brad, and that ain't Goode..... I played in Brad's quintet at the Green Mill in Chicago for most of the 90s. Cat can play, no doubt. Many great players sat in with that group including Von Freeman, Eddie Harris, Ira Sullivan and Linn Halliday, to name a prestigious few. Edited December 1, 2010 by Free For All Quote
GA Russell Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 FFA, if you're going to keep telling puns like that, we're going to have to vote on you! Quote
randyhersom Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Tweak it just a bit: You've got it Brad, and ain't that Goode. And you have his next album title! Quote
