JSngry Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Can't wait to hear the acceptance speech if Cee Lo wins Best Song! Quote
sidewinder Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 And nominated for best Album Notes: "Side Steps Ashley Kahn, album notes writer (John Coltrane) [Prestige Records]" Shame there's no sign of any nominations for Mosaic this year. Quote
Dave James Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) The Jeff Lorber Fusion? I thought they dried up and blew away years ago. Kenny G got his start with that band. I saw them open for Pat Metheny many moons ago at an old Portland club called Euphoria. Edited December 3, 2010 by Dave James Quote
Ken Dryden Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 At least Kenny G was listed under instrumental pop rather than being labeled jazz. I imagine a lot of the Grammy voters are too cheap to buy Mosaic sets, since they don't exactly provide many comp promos of their limited edition collections. I'm eligible to join but I'd rather use my money elsewhere. Congratulations to the jazz nominees, especially Lorraine Feather and Denise Donatelli. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 What, no Metheny in the list? The sky is falling!!!! Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Nice to see Esperanza Spalding up there with Beiber and Florence in Best New Artist category. and has anyone given half an ear to Wynton's best improvised solo nomination? Quote
Christiern Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 The list of nominees/winners becomes more amazing each year—in a negative way, of course. Ditto the TV show. I thought Pierre Cossette's death would spark an improvement (he having had neither taste, creativity, nor good sense), but it didn't happen. And now "Surround Sound" is a category! The Grammy awards seem to follow the downward path of America's popular music... Quote
