The underside is covered with felt. There's only one turn-switch for all the bulbs,which, along with the wire and plug, are definitely not new.  I like that every stem can be turned and twisted in any way imaginable.

These Louis' photos must've been taken in Europe in the early 1930s.

Armstrong's relationship with modern seating was very solid!;)
