CJ Shearn
I have this on hold for me at a local store being sold for $8! Is it worth the purchase?
David Ayers
Well - yes. If you like ST and enjoy Duke Pearson style arrangements, go for it. It's a pretty nice thing to have around and at that price it won't break you (I hope).
Jim R
Yes! I waited years for some of the tracks from this... ... to come out on CD. I think Turrentine shines on this stuff.

jazztrain
Yes, it's definitely worth it. I picked this up about a month ago and have enjoyed it more than I expected. It includes a beautiful version of a rarely recorded Henry Mancini tune ("Silver Tears"). There's another version of that tune recorded around the same time by Shelly Manne. . Shawn
Make sure to get the "sister release" Return Of The Prodigal Son. Both are fantastic.
CJ Shearn
I'll try to get that Shawn, it's still in print
Chicago Expat
You should be able to get Return of the Prodigal Son pretty cheap too. It was part of the same release (kinda) as Bluish Bag. I remember they were both available on my old BMG account, which always indicated plentiful and cheap on the general market. Both worth having, but I also really love Turrentine's music, so keep that in mind.

jazzbo
+3 or 4 from me, they're both well worth having. Great stuff!
Big Al
Whatever number were on.... I say go for it and PRODIGAL as well!!! Essential Turrentine, IMO, and far FAR better than some of the stuff that actually saw the light of day when it was recorded.
