I always try to forget parts of his life. Otherwise I'd be tempted to eat nothing but meat & LSD figuring I'd live to be 78 as it's not like age & health issues killed him. (Yeah, I see he survived cancer.) It's a cliche but he most certainly was one of a kind.

I had no idea "Kid Charlemagne" was about him.

No kidding. I'd been under the baffled impression for 35 years that it was about King Charlemagne !

Yes, that's the thing that most surprised me about the obit.

I thought this was unusual:

Mr. Stanley was previously a ballet dancer and a member of the United States Air Force.
