mrjazzman Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 All you Bird experts, where will I find the source material or 1st generation cd of the Parker/Rodney version of KOKO. Thanks.............. Quote
paul secor Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) If you're looking for the Carnegie Hall Ko Ko - as far as I know, that's the only version with Red Rodney - I have it on THIS release. It may have been reissued elsewhere. Edited May 12, 2011 by paul secor Quote

JSngry Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 I have it on one of those nifty Alamac LPs from the late 70s. To the best of my knowledge, that was the first public release of it. Quote
gmonahan Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Me too. And me. I think I picked up all those old Alamac lps in some rack at a mall. I think it was back in Iowa City, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far away.... gregmo Quote
brownie Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 In fact, the first release of the Carnegie Hall music and its Koko was on an unnumbered ten-incher from the Hot Club de Lyon back in the 50s. The LP came in a white cover. I sold my copy during one of my first visit to Fred Cohen's Jazz Corner Center (at its former location). Quote
