Lazaro Vega Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Though he arrived with the "young lions" of the 1980's, alto saxophonist/composer Greg Osby remains an independently minded improvisor and bandleader. Early experiences in the bands of Jack DeJohnette, Andrew Hill and Jim Hall are heard tonight alongside his considerable list of recordings under his own name during Jazz From Blue Lake, 10 p.m. - 3 a.m. edt via www.bluelake.org/radio. He lists Andrew HIll, Muhal Richard Abrams and Von Freeman and "my mentors."Hope you can join us. Quote
JSngry Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 As fate would have it, spent some time listening to this on this AM, and really digging how Osby could go there w/o seeming to really...worry about it, if you know what I mean. Marvelous! Quote

Marvelous! Excellent CD! Will have to dig it out and listen to it again. And thanks for the heads-up, LV, sounds like a great show... I'll try to tune in for some of it. Quote
