mikeweil Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) Received an e-mail that there will be several volumes of hitherto unreleased recordings of Jim Hall's trio from Toronto in 1975 (one LP of this was on Horizon) on Artist Share - bassist Don Thompson found some tape boxes. There also will be a live CD of Hall current band with Greg Osby, Steve Laspina and Joey Baron. Edited November 19, 2011 by mikeweil Quote

tranemonk Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I know it kinda sucks but I'm inclined to get for two reasons. A) I like Jim Hall and b) Their packaging is okay. I paid $40 for Maria Schneider's last release and it was worth it. I have to go back and listen to the individual CD I have to make a definitive decision. six string Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 I have the Horizon lp so I'm not too interested in a $25 extension of the same. Still I'm intrigued by his playing with Joey Baron and Greg Osby. That sounds really interesting. Quote

I thought the whole point was to make new projects possible, not to cash in on something that happened a long time in the past. Anyway, I'll probably get the Birdland CD, which should include Osby and Baron (actually details are kind of scarce on the CD itself). I think it would definitely be better if they accepted Paypal, however. Quote
