Ted O'Reilly Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 -Sun Ra Complete Horseshoe Inn, Toronto. It should be the "Horseshow TAVERN", actually. Is this a typo, or is the misspelling on the package? (I think I was there for some of this -- coulda been at the Edge, though... Presented by 'The Garys'? Quote
jazzbo Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Horseshow or Horseshoe Tavern? On the cover and online it's Horseshoe Tavern. Quote

Is this a typo, or is the misspelling on the package? (I think I was there for some of this -- coulda been at the Edge, though... Presented by 'The Garys'? I was at one of the shows at The Horseshoe. (It used to specialize in Country and Western acts so it was surprising to see Sun Ra there.) These are "audience recordings". Between a couple of the numbers you can hear someone in the audience saying something really stupid. I think it might be me. Quote
Leeway Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Medjuck, I doubt it was you, but it is amazing what kind of smack people in the audience are talking when greats like Miles, Bill Evans, and Sun Ra are performing. We might be hearing timeless, or at least important, music, but for many of the folks whose chatter we hear on these records, it is just probably just a soundtrack to an amorous evening. Quote

peterintoronto Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Is your Cecil Taylor a corrected version? Discs 2 & 7 in some sets are musically exact even though they have different titles on the CDs. Quote
greggery peccary Posted December 8, 2011 Author Report Posted December 8, 2011 Yes it is. Disc 2 runs 43 minutes and disc 7 only 32. Quote
