JSngry Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) Ware was not a bad singer, but my god could the man write and produce. This one just floats all over the place with a feigned hook and finally lands on the real hook, a super hook (played by Gary Bartz, and see kids, this is how you do it, and this is why a jazz was still cool in 1977, because it could both appreciate and be appreciated all at the same time all at once), and once it does...DAMN. "Genius" is too often overused (sic), and I'd not think to use it in regards to Ware, but "brilliant"? Yes, at times brilliant. I think this is one such case...so much sophisticated idiosyncrasy and detail all at once, not something you get all the time. And oh yeah, how 'bout Syreeta? Yeah! mikeweil Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Is that Gary Bartz on alto?Oh I see it is - didn't read your comments before listening. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Those two records she did with Stevie around the same time as his classic are like the Lost Stevie Wonder albums. Great stuff on there. Haven't heard this before. Thanks! Quote
jazzbo Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 +1 on the two albums. Great stuff. Quote
JSngry Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 I am coming to like this album with Ware even more than the two with Stevie. More slink, and just as much think. Quote
