Hardbopjazz Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Does vinyl records in colors other than black have any effect on the sound of the record? I have a Milt Jackson Pablo release, that is on red vinyl, "Night Mist." I've had other records over the years that were colored. I don't hear any difference. Do anyone hear have albums that are on colored vinyl? Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 I have this records, but mine isn't red. I would think this would be a waste of money pressing albums in multi colors. Quote
mikeweil Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 If done properly, the color shouldn't have any effect on the quality of the pressing. Black vinyl is colored with carbon powder. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Pure vinyl is relatively clear. Carbon black is added as a groove lubricant. Quote
